K-12 English Reading and Writing Introduct
1. Course Overview Our K-12 English Reading and Writing classes are designed to develop students’ literacy skills progressively. The curriculum emphasizes both foundational and advanced reading comprehension, vocabulary development, critical thinking, and creative writing, tailored to each grade level’s needs. 2. Key Focus Areas Reading: Phonemic Awareness (K-2): For younger students, focus on phonics, decoding, and fluency in reading. Reading Comprehension (All Grades): Help students understand, interpret, and analyze texts of increasing complexity. Texts include fiction, non-fiction, poetry, and informational writing. Critical Thinking (Grades 6-12): Encourage students to ask deeper questions, make inferences, and evaluate texts for themes, tone, and purpose. Writing: Grammar and Sentence Structure (K-5): Teach sentence construction, punctuation, and spelling.
